I don’t mind Taylor Swift - she obviously has talent and isn’t the worst actor alive. In fact, with a good make-up department she’d make a fairly good look-a-like for Joni Mitchell. The problem is in her style. Vocally she is completely different from Joni, and I assume a biopic would involve singing. Lots of it. Most of all I don’t think Taylor Swift could capture the spirit of Joni. Joni was more melancholy, bluesy, a long way from Taylor’s pop-folk girl-next-door type.
Can Laura Marling just play the part? Or at least someone who can act: Elizabeth Olsen (singing TBC) or Léa Seydoux (if she can hide her French accent).
